JOB GOAL:

Directing necessary academic and related services to support campuses with special service needs and training, coordinate PBIS programs, as well as compliance needs of the district.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid fingerprint Clearance Card for State of Arizona
  2. Valid State of Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate
  3. Master’s Degree, Preferred
  4. Strong background in IEP development and PBIS
  5. Strong background in a variety of specialized classroom settings

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  1. Manages a wide variety of program components (e.g. PBIS, student support services, counseling and guidance, alternative school, health services, behavioral/health services, related parent education programs, etc.) for the purpose of delivering services which conform to established guidelines and regulations for Special Education students. 
  2. Collaborates with internal and external personnel (e.g. other administrators, teachers, auditors, public agencies, community members, etc.) for the purpose of building relationships, implementing and/or maintaining assigned services and programs, serving as a resource to schools and other departments. 
  3. Maintains services and the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) and/or processes for the purpose of providing services within established timeframes and in compliance with related requirements. 
  4. Facilitates meetings, workshops, seminars, etc. (e.g. due process hearings, district liaison, parent groups, etc.) for the purpose of identifying issues, developing relationships and recommendations, supporting other staff, and serving as a District representative. 
  5. Participates in a wide variety of meetings (e.g. board meetings, training, hearings, IEPs, etc.) for the purpose of providing and/or receiving information. 
  6. Performs personnel functions: (includes evaluation of P.T., OT’s Speech Therapists, and Vision Therapy staff throughout District)
  7. Researches a variety of topics required to manage 504 program and services (e.g. relevant policies, new federal and state statures, staffing requirements, financial resources, etc.) for the purpose of developing new programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, securing general information and/or responding to requests. 
  8. Responsible for Out of District placements for Special Education, including MeetinGo, paperwork, and follow-up.
  9. Nurse & Counselor Liaison for Special Education Students. 
  10. Work at school sites supporting Special Education student and teacher population in the classroom, providing classroom support, training and testing and any other duties as assigned in the classroom.
  11. Two (2) half days a week responsible at district level for compliance support and student management, including IEP PRO and files
  12. Meet with all private schools within district boundaries yearly, and explain special education policies and procedures and how it relates to private schools. 
  13. Provide training and assistance on writing service plans for all students who attend private schools within district boundaries. 
  14. Prepare and submit all information for alternate AIMS (AIMS-A). Provide annual training and support for all teachers who proctor AIMS-A.
  15. Manage all private day placement students and IEP’s for all who are placed out of district. 
  16. Other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and arms, stand, bend or stoop. The employee is frequently required to move about the campuses and to drive to the schools and departments in the District. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:  Full time, 210 Days

COMPENSATION:  Certified Salary Schedule

BENEFITS:  As per District policy

REPORTS TO:  Special Education Director/Principal

EVALUATION:  Initial evaluation to be completed no later than ninety (90) days after first day of work; thereafter, annually by supervisor.

HOURS:  40 hours per week, may require longer hours

CLASSIFICATION:  Exempt
