JOB GOAL: To support the middle level math teachers to provide quality math support for students enrolled in the Middle School.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 16 years or older.
  • Must have passed a minimum of two years of high school math.
  • Ability to clearly explain mathematics concepts.
  • Willingness to work patiently with students who are having difficulty understanding mathematics concepts and mastering mathematics skills.
  • Must be responsible and dependable
  • Must provide own transportation to and from school

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  1. Meet and greet students during the after school math tutoring program.
  2. Provide individual and small group tutoring to students in math, in cooperation with the teaching staff.
  3. Communicate about the children with other staff members when needed.
  4. Assist with taking attendance of the students.
  5. Supervise, observe, and interact with the students at all times. Be aware of the group as a whole and make yourself available when needed.
  6. Maintain confidentiality of students and their families
  7. Be available to tutor per assigned schedule.
  8. Flexibility is necessary during the math tutoring sessions as well as with scheduling, hours may vary.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and arms, stand, bend or stoop. The employee is frequently required to move about the campuses and to drive to the schools and departments in the District. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 3:45pm-5:00pm Tuesday and Thursday throughout school year
COMPENSATION: Minimum wage
BENEFITS: As per District policy
REPORTS TO: Middle School Principal
EVALUATION: Initial evaluation to be completed no later than ninety (90) days after first
day of work; thereafter, annually by supervisor.
HOURS: 2 1/2 hours per week
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly
