JOB GOAL: To provide mechanical repairs to all School District vehicles and equipment in a clean and safe and environment and to maintain an excellent working relationship with all District staff
Qualifications:
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have, or be able to obtain, a Class “B” Commercial Drivers License with Passenger, “S”, and Air Brake endorsements
- Must be able to pass a School Bus Drivers Physical Examination, per Federal and State Department of Transportation laws, including substance abuse screening
- Must be able to pass the State of Arizona Physical Performance Test for School Bus Drivers
- Must be able to pass a Fingerprint and background check
- Must have an excellent attendance record
- Mechanical experience necessary in diesel and gasoline engines and hydraulic and air brake systems
- Experience in vehicle air conditioning systems preferred
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds, stand, stoop, and kneel
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Provide all aspects of mechanical repair services for all District vehicles
- Safeguard all tools, parts, and supplies, and to keep workplace clean and organized
- Prepare and make available all requisitioned vehicles
- Serve as a substitute bus driver as determined by the Director of Transportation or designee
- Operate all vehicles in a safe, efficient manner and transport only authorized students and personnel
- Communicate with Director, vehicle drivers, and District staff in a positive, professional manner
- Cooperate with supervisory staff in basic checkout and emergency procedures
- Provide departmental reports as requested
- Complete written reports and discuss with Director all accidents, vehicle damage, and student injury situations
- Be willing to work split shifts, if necessary, as determined by the Director of Transportation
- Attend mandatory department meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation and/or his/her designee
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-MONTH; Vacation Days: per policy GDD. General Leave Days: per policy GDCA
COMPENSATION: Classified Salary Schedule
EVALUATION: Initial evaluation to be completed not later than ninety (90) days after first day of work; thereafter, annually
