TITLE:

CHILD NUTRITION STUDENT WORKER

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Food Handler’s Certificate – Current
2. Must be 16 years of age or older
3. Experience in food preparation desired
4. Ability to operate institutional equipment
5. Knowledge of HACCP, and workplace safety requirements
6. Ability to lift 50lbs and stand for long periods of time
7. Ability to work with figures and to make arithmetic calculations
8. Ability to communicate with parents, staff and students on Child Nutrition program
9. Must be able to read, write and speak English
10. High School diploma or GED preferred
11. Knowledge of and adheres to all policies, regulations and rules
12. Must pass fingerprint and background check

JOB GOAL:

The Child Nutrition Student Worker is to assist in the preparation, serving and clean-up of food in quantity Child Nutrition operation, using safe food practices.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

1. Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees and community
2. Learn all essential skills (i.e.: eTrition, daily paperwork, ordering, etc.) within a reasonable time span
3. Knowledge of basic math skills
4. Ability to count money and make change, complete related reports and operate cash register
5. Displays and demonstrates knowledge of HACCP food safety/sanitation guidelines
6. Operates standard kitchen equipment, including but not limited to convection ovens, microwave oven, steam table and hot holding carts
7. Assists with quantity food preparation
8. Assists with the daily cleaning of kitchen and all kitchen equipment to ensure cleanliness and to ensure sanitary conditions are met
9. Assists with stocking and replenishing of supplies
10. Sets up and breaks down serving lines
11. Be willing to take over for manager in her/his absence.
12. Performs all duties in a safe and prudent manner as directed
13. Perform other duties as assigned

EVALUATION:

Initial evaluation to be completed no later than ninety (90) days after first day of work; thereafter, annually by supervisor.
